Playoffs

Well it is that time of year again… Playoffs.  Two of our hometown teams are making a run to become champions.  The Suns and Coyotes, both having amazing seasons and continue to make their mark in the first round of playoffs.

The Coyotes have fought back this year having a season to remember.  It was just last year that the state of Arizona almost lost our beloved Coyotes, due to lack of funding.  The Coyotes brought the love of ice back to the desert this season.  This is the first time in the playoffs in a few years. The series against the Detroit Red Wings is tied 2-2 with game five on Friday.

The Suns, they are probably one of the favorite teams here in the valley.  With last years attempt to make the playoffs failed, this year they have brought more than heat to the court.  Some may say the Suns are getting old with Grant Hill and Steve Nash but those two continue to make something more out of their career each year in the NBA.  They are facing the Portland Trailblazers and tonight is game 3 of the series.  Series tied 1-1.

Sports Bars and Grills all over the state are broadcasting the games, so go out and enjoy the playoff atmosphere.

Pat’s Run

This past weekend a record 28,000 people came out to support The Pat Tillman Foundation.  It was the 6th annual Pat’s Run, at Sun Devil stadium.   Pat Tillman was an ASU alum and played football for the Sun Devils.  Pat went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals, then decided to join the military and was drafted to serve the country.  He was killed in 2004 in Afghanistan due to friendly fire.  But the is still much controversy to the way Pat Tillman died.  Pat Tillman was an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with.  He was a dedicated athlete and student and his legacy lives on.

Easter Weekend

There are so many things going on this week so, I encourage all of you to go and soak in this festive weekend.  Some of us may celebrate Easter, Passover, or just trying to enjoy the spring weather and this is the weekend to do just that. If you happen to be celebrating Easter, the LDS church puts on an Easter pageant every year.  The Easter pageant take place every night at 8 pm on the lawn of the Mesa Temple.  The Temple is off of Main and Mesa Drive.  People from all different religions come out to watch the pageant that has been going on since the 1920s.

If you are looking for something to do with your kids, the city of Glendale is where you should be on Saturday.  In downtown Glendale 20,000 eggs will be ready and waiting for kids to find them.  Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will be there for a meet and greet starting at 9:30 am for kids under the age of ten.

Also this weekend is First Fridays in Heritage Square Art Walk. It is in Phoenix and starts at 6 pm.  The art walk is free and let’s all people come out and see the art from around the valley.

Play Ball…

The Cactus League teams are geared up and ready to start the baseball season off strong.  Spring training games started yesterday and continue until the end of March.  There are ten teams including the Giants, A’s, Cubs, and the Dodgers that come to Arizona to kick off  the long season ahead.  The ballparks are all over the state, in cities like; Peoria, Tempe, Mesa and Tucson just two hours south, where our hometown Diamondbacks play. This is a good opportunity for everyone around the valley to join in on the good old American tradition of baseball.  It is an amazing  time to get your friends and family together to enjoy the ballpark food and atmosphere.  Tickets are affordable they start at just $8 and games are everyday.  So, go out and enjoy the spring weather, hot dog, and some cracker jacks for old times sake.  Batter up!

Mexican Restaurants

I have been craving really good Mexican food lately, and wanted to share my favorite hot spots! So for all of the beans, rice, chips and salsa lovers here are restaurants worth trying.

MY FAVORITES the TOP 3

Gecko Grill

Its in Gilbert off Gilbert Rd. and Guadalupe.  They have an amazing bean dip, and a to die for mango shrimp quesadilla.  It is not too expensive and great service! It is a local restaurant that is how you know it is good!

ABUELO’S-

This restaurant has an incredible atmosphere.  You feel like you are in a nice Mexican City.  It is right across the street from the Chandler Mall.  They have great food and it is a good place to take a date.

Macayo’s-

It is open 7 days a week from 10am-midnight.  It is located of Mill Ave. and Ash.  They have huge margaritas, and a great appetizers. It is a fun place to bring a large group to.

Go out and try a new mexican restaurant!!!

SuperBowl Sunday

Here is my favorite commerical of the night and a picture of the amazing food!!!

Superbowl Sunday was a great success, the SAINTS won!!!  This Superbowl I decided to have a party of my own.  I know I posted some fun things that were happening around the city, but the home sounded like the place to be to watch the big game.  It has always been a tradition of my families to have lots of food and lots of friends over for the game.  That is exactly what we did this year.  The picture is of some of the food that was at my house! It all was so yummy!  I had a blast watching the game.  The commercials were on the better side this year.  That was pleasing because the game was a slow one at first.  I think many of viewers, like myself were surprised about the outcome of the game! The Who gave a great Halftime Show although to our generation they may seem a little out of date. I look forward to next year.
